As I sit here, sipping coffee and pondering the divinity of Christ...

I'm at CC's right now (the coffeehouse, not the Pizza place--just in case some of you would be wondering why I'm choosing to hang out at a cheap pizza place for hours pondering the divinity of Christ) working on lecture notes for my apologetics class--and you'd have to be IN the class to know how laughable that truly is (shhhh, girls...don't rat me out!) I'm relying heavily (alright, exclusively) on Kreeft & Tacelli's argument as presented in the Handbook of Christian Apologetics because it's really good! I thought that this quote from the book was especially interesting and wanted to share it with you, my devoted readers ;) :

Aquinas argues that if the Incarnation did not really happen, then an even more unbelievable miracle happened: the conversion of the world by the biggest lie in history and the moral transformation of lives into unselfishness, detachment from worldly pleasures and radically new heights of holiness by a mere myth.

Leave it to Aquinas to come up with such good stuff!! Alright, back to working diligently while trying my level-best NOT to 1. listen to other people's conversations, 2. watch the people who come and go (I've already run into a girl I graduated from high school with and a waiter from Zeus that I've got a little crush on!) 3. find everything else in the world to look at online while I work on my school work! I came here b/c I can't work at home...I thought it was just being at home, but apparently I can't work anywhere! ha! Well, it's not quite so bad...I have managed to get a good bit done between IM conversations and random web searches. Alright, back to work! :)

Slow and Steady

Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy.

They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder.

It'd really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment.

They expect you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then usually decide against it.

hmmmmm...

Lucy
You are Lucy!

Which Peanuts Character are You?

From the mouth of...

Grace is one of my hilarious 11th graders. There is no way I can fully express on this blog how funny some of her expressions can be! I will do my best, but you really have to hear her!

When asked to define 'divinity'..."A GOOD cookie!"

When responding to the journal topic: The thing I fear most about growing old is..."A BAD retirement plan!"

When asked how she did on the ACT last weekend..."It was EASY-SHMEASY!" [pronounced sh-ME-zy]

When discussing someone's beard..."like Santa Claus! He should have went applied for the position."

When discussing the dangers of professional nail salons..."Don't go get a manicure! FUNGUS!!"

A very versatile phrase for Grace: "Holy mackerel!"

On a drawing she did on my dry-erase board..."It reminds me of creation. It's even better with all the colors mixed up!" (picture included to the left.)

On the possibility that her new 'interest' might ask her "to go out" on the anniversary of the date she and the guy she dated previously started dating..."Oh my gosh! I'm TOTALLY weirded out!"

On the day after a new exercise was introduced in PE (and everyone was talking about how sore they were)..."I'm not sore! You girls must be OUT of shape!"

While talking with the other girls about their extreme dieting measures in an attempt to fit into homecoming outfits..."I'm proud of my pooch!" (fyi, there is NO pooch!)

Ahhhhhh, I can't wait to hear what she comes up with tomorrow! ;)

Pull out the COATS!!

Well, whadayaknow! It's done got cold outside!! ha! Yep folks, the first true cold snap of the season has come through! It was a beautifully seasonable weekend, but I wasn't prepared for the cold blast of air that hit me when I left for work this morning! Yeah...late October and we're FINALLY able to pull out the jackets and sweaters! Not to worry, I'm sure we'll be back to normal in a few weeks...and wearing shorts for Christmas! (omg, I really AM obsessed with the weather, aren't I?!)

Pics from Todd Agnew

These are a few pics from the Todd Agnew Concert. This first picture is of Todd Agnew. Ya gotta love stage lighting! ;) I think Emory got some better shots, so if I can get ahold of some of those, I'll post them...but until then, this is as good as it gets! Posted by Picasa
Oh, Emory told me everyone's names, but I've forgotten. But I do know that this is Jonathan in the white shirt playing the violin. He's a friend of Emory's and the one I have to thank for the tickets! Thanks Jonathan! :) Posted by Picasa
Todd and Rob(?) who, I've been told is the fashionista of the group! Posted by Picasa

Random Thoughts

Don't you hate it when you're in line to pay at the gas station and some middle aged man is standing too close to you while waiting to buy a 40-ounce can of beer at 9:45 in the morning? yeah, me too...

-----

I was talking to my friend Jonathan the other night and was telling him about how my up-coming birthday was beginning to depress me and he was like, oh yeah, that's a month from today, right? (we were talking on Oct 20) UGH!!! For whatever reason, that had not occurred to me yet and somehow in my mind i was still thinking it was like five or six weeks away...now it's less than a month!!! ughhhhhh...

-----

Parent-Teacher conferences are of the devil! (Not the parents themselves, just the conferences!)

-----

I went to the Todd Agnew concert at LC with Jen tonight. I took a few pictures and when I have some energy, maybe I'll post a few here. Emory took many more pictures with one of the band guy's NEAT camera and so he'll be posting those and i'll nab some of those as well. The concert was great. We missed the opening bands (see previous random comment for further information) but we enjoyed ourselves. I have more thoughts but since the whole "Mike Griffin reading my blog thing," I'm all the sudden a little more shy about sharing my thoughts and feelings on this suddenly very public space! ;)

It's late, I'm tired...

A slight obsession

I feel like a one-year old, but I love dry Cheerios. Strange, huh?

This-is-the-hurricane-season-that-never-ends, yes-it-goes-on-and-on-my-friend...Everyone, Sing Along!!

Wow, we're actually at the bottom of the list of names for 2005...this is just crazy! Wilma is probably gonna become a major hurricane (winds of 110+ mph) by Monday. She is forecast to turn toward the Florida panhandle after crossing the Yucatan peninsula, so that takes us out of harm's way, but still does much to wreak havoc on yet another part of the gulf coast. I kinda figured that this one was heading straight for us! We've had one to the left and one to the right...only seems fitting if one came right up the middle. Ugh! Didn't I mention I was OVER hurricanes for the season!!

Dry...

It's been a week since my last post and I can't think of anything to write about! This is so weird...since when do I ever run out of things to say?! It's been a crazy week. Grades were due today and of course I didn't do anything ahead of time so I've spent every free moment (ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration) grading papers and compiling grades. We had a Princess Party and Camo Craze on Saturday. 6+ hours with pre-k through 6th grade kids=brain dead! Sunday was my week to help with the tech stuff at church. I've had a nagging cold/allergy thing going on for a while now. And on top of all of that, it has finally begun to sink in that I'm turning 30 next month!! Yeah, the fall-out is NOT gonna be good, so beware! So that's a lil' update on my life--exciting, I know! Hopefully something interesting will happen soon...or I'll just keep posting these stock pictures that were on my computer when I got it! :)
